Since you have a Ram, short bed truck, you probably already know that you have less cab-to-trailer clearance (only 36") during tight turns than Ford (40") or GM (43") trucks. A shorter bed means you have less of a turning angle than most—especially in campgrounds, fuel stations, and tight spaces.

With those limiting factors in mind, we have three excellent hitch options that willl work your specific vehicle. We’ll start with the option that best solves short-bed turning limitations, then we’ll show two strong alternatives if you prefer a different style, weight, or price point.

 

1^st Choice – OE Puck SuperGlide

Best for short bed turning with confidence, the #2315 OE Puck SuperGlide is hands-down, the best hitch on the market for short-bed Ram trucks. It automatically moves the trailer rearward as you turn, helping protect your cab when turning gets tight. The #2315 makes you feel like you're driving an 8ft. bed truck with full 90 degree turns!

	Easy Installation & Removal Specialized Mounting Post Handles are completely removable and they require no tools to install and remove them. Fine adjustments to the castle nuts for a tight fit, a turn in and you can lock them into place. Remove them, and you've also reduced the overall lifting weight you need to manage.

This not only prevents you from moving it around without the hitch sitting flat while moving it into place, but to install it, you have to lift a heavy hitch straight over the holes and aim really well over all four points. When the posts are removed, you have a flat bottom to set your hitch down without damaging hitch or truck bed and you're able to easily slide your hitch into place over the holes for a quick install.

2^nd Choice – OEX SuperLite

An excellend alternative to the OE SuperGlide f you want the lightest 25K, fixed position hitch on the market with the most rearward offset, but with reduced turning radius.

Unlike OE SuperGlide, OEX doesn't move automatically for maximum cab clearance, but what it does give you is a unique King Pin Adapter that gives you the additional clearance you need with a short bed Ram truck.

How did we do it? We turned your trailer's king pin into a gooseneck ball with a King Pin Adapter. This unique feature, installed direcly onto your trailer's king pin, not only turns your trailer into an easy "aim & drop" hookup, but can increase the amount of clearance you need by up to 7-1/2". #4815 OEX SuperLite ....

	Easiest Hookup...Full View Coupling OEX SuperLite allows you to have a full view of the coupling process from the cab of your truck. Just position the ball over the funnel's diameter from any angle and you're good.  No jumping in and out of the cab to get it lined up properly like a conventional hitch plate.

need forward AND rearward illustrations	Increased Turning Angles for Ram OEX SuperLite uses a ball-and-coupler design and offers the most rearward offset.  In it's forward position you still get 4" of offest, but when you install the SuperLite King Pin Adapter to the rearward position, you move it rearward and gain another 3-1/2", giving you a full 7½". Every little bit helpof the two—helpful when you want the most turning room.   *this is crap...rewrite

 

3^rd Choice – OEX Super 5^th

OEX Super 5^th keeps a more traditional fifth-wheel feel with a hitch-plate style connection and a 4" rearward offset as well. All the same features as the OEX SuperLite above, but with a different coupling system.

 

What to expect on a short bed: both are strong choices, but they won’t match SuperGlide’s short-bed turning confidence in the tightest situations. With a short-bed truck, that simply means you’ll be a little more mindful of extreme turns and backing angles.  Note the decreased turning angles you get with a OEX for Ram in the rearward most positions, making SuperGlide still the best option for better cab-to-trailer clearance.
